Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

At The Brook Veterinary Surgery, we believe that learning never stops – and that’s exactly how we want it! Veterinary medicine is constantly evolving, with new treatments, techniques, and research emerging all the time. That’s why Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is at the heart of everything we do.

Why CPD Matters to Us

Every member of our team, from our veterinary surgeons to our nurses is committed to ongoing learning and professional growth. CPD isn’t just a requirement; it’s our passion. By regularly attending courses, webinars, conferences, and training sessions, we ensure we’re always up to date with the latest advances in veterinary care. This means your pet benefits from current best practices, modern treatment options, and the most effective approaches to their health and wellbeing.

What This Means for Your Pet

When you bring your companion to us, you can feel confident knowing they’re being cared for by a team that’s committed to excellence. Our dedication to CPD means:

  • We stay current with the latest diagnostic techniques and treatments
  • We continuously refine our surgical and medical skills
  • We learn about emerging health concerns and preventive strategies
  • We bring fresh knowledge and innovative approaches to our practice
  • We maintain the highest standards of care for every patient
A Culture of Learning

We encourage every team member to pursue their interests and develop their expertise in areas they’re passionate about. Whether it’s advanced dental techniques, cardiac care, exotic animal medicine, or behavioural therapy, our varied CPD activities mean we can offer your pet well-rounded, knowledgeable care across many specialties.

Your pet deserves the very best, and our commitment to lifelong learning ensures that’s exactly what they receive every time they visit us.

Training the Next Generation of Veterinary Professionals

At The Brook Veterinary Surgery, we’re proud to play an active role in shaping the future of veterinary care. As an approved training practice, we’re committed to nurturing new talent and sharing our passion for animal welfare with the veterinary professionals of tomorrow.

Veterinary Nurse Training Practice

We’re delighted to be an approved training practice for Level 3 Veterinary Nurse apprenticeships. Our experienced nursing team provides hands-on mentorship and guidance to trainee nurses, helping them develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to excel in their careers. Watching our apprentices grow from enthusiastic beginners into skilled, compassionate professionals is one of the most rewarding aspects of what we do.
For our clients, this means you’ll often meet our trainee nurses during your visits. They work alongside our qualified team, learning every aspect of veterinary nursing care while providing the same high standard of service and attention your pets deserve. We’re incredibly proud of the supportive learning environment we’ve created here.

Veterinary Graduate Development Programme (VetGDP)

We also participate in the Veterinary Graduate Development Programme, supporting newly qualified vets as they transition from university into professional practice. Our experienced veterinary surgeons provide mentorship, guidance, and a supportive environment where graduate vets can build their clinical skills and confidence during those crucial first years of practice.

Why Training Matters

Being a training practice keeps us on our toes! It means we’re constantly reviewing our procedures, staying current with the latest educational standards, and maintaining the highest levels of clinical excellence. Our trainees bring fresh perspectives and enthusiasm, while our experienced team ensures every patient receives expert, compassionate care.
We believe investing in the next generation strengthens the entire veterinary profession and ultimately means better care for all the pets we love.
